alloys we work with

select material
define performance

Material selection is where component performance begins. ALTAMET delivers castings in a wide variety of alloys from general industry to high performance alloys. If needed our engineers will help you match alloy to functional requirements — weight, strength, corrosion resistance, heat exposure, machinability and inspection — so each casting route supports the part’s real operating conditions from prototype to production.

Al

Aluminum Alloys

Lightweight structures, good castability, corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity and strong weight-to-performance balance. Often selected when weight reduction, machinability and cost efficiency are important. For example: A356 A357 A380
Ti

Titanium Alloys

High strength-to-weight ratio, excellent corrosion resistance and good performance in demanding aerospace, medical and chemical environments. Selected when low weight, strength and corrosion resistance must be combined. For example: Ti-6Al-4V Grade 2
SS

Stainless Steel

Corrosion resistance, strength, durability and good performance in aggressive or hygienic environments. Selected when the component must resist rust, moisture, chemicals, cleaning media or elevated service demands. For example: CF8 CF8M Cast 316
Ni

Nickel Superalloys

High-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, creep resistance and corrosion resistance in harsh environments. Selected for components exposed to heat, thermal cycling, aggressive media or demanding mechanical loads. For example: IN718 IN625
Mg

Magnesium Alloys

Extremely lightweight metal alloy family with good strength-to-weight ratio, good castability and vibration damping. Selected when weight reduction is the main design driver and service conditions are compatible with magnesium. For example: AZ91D WE43
Zr

Zirconium Alloys

Exceptional corrosion resistance in selected chemical and nuclear environments, low neutron absorption and strong performance where material compatibility is critical. Typically used for highly specialized applications. For example: Zr 702 Zr 705

why casting

when casting
makes sense

Casting is often the right manufacturing route when the part shape, material usage or production volume makes machining from solid inefficient or impractical. Send us your drawing and we will help you define if casting method is right for you.

how we work

how to get
your part

Send us your drawing, 3D model or part requirements. ALTAMET reviews the geometry, material, quantity, quality requirements and delivery target, then proposes a suitable manufacturing route. We coordinate production, inspection, documentation and delivery, keeping the process simple from start to finish. You pay only after the finished parts are produced, inspected and approved, reducing sourcing risk before the order reaches your shop.

FAQ

frequently
asked questions

What information should I send for a casting quote?

For the most accurate quotation, please provide a 3D model or technical drawing, material specification, required quantity, tolerances, surface finish, testing requirements and any applicable industry standards.

STEP, STP and PDF files are commonly used. When some information is not yet available, send what you have and our team will help define the remaining requirements.

ALTAMET can support different casting routes depending on the part geometry, alloy, tolerance requirements and production volume. Typical options may include investment casting, sand casting, permanent mold casting, die casting and specialty casting processes. The final route is selected after reviewing the drawing, material requirements and intended application.

Yes. If you are not sure which casting method is right for your part, ALTAMET can review the drawing, geometry, alloy, critical features, quantity and quality requirements to help define a suitable manufacturing route.

Yes. Many cast components require CNC machining after casting. Casting creates the near-net shape, while machining is used for critical surfaces such as datums, mounting faces, bearing seats, sealing surfaces, threads, holes and precision interfaces. ALTAMET can do it all: Datums machining, rough or finish machining.

Yes. ALTAMET can support casting projects from prototype and first-article development to repeat production. Early-stage projects may focus on manufacturability, tooling strategy and sample validation, while production projects may include machining, inspection, documentation and supply planning.

Yes. Depending on the project requirements, ALTAMET can support dimensional inspection, material certificates, mechanical testing, NDT reports, first article inspection and traceability documentation. Inspection requirements should be defined before production.
